Kodiyatur has a persistent legacy in arts as well as cultural activities. There were local poets and mappila artists lived in Kodiyathur during those olden era. The people of Kodiyathur composed the tunes of ‘Mappila Pattu’ in its original style, rhyme, rhythm and method.
Hussan Kodiyathur and his family still keep that reputation of the village, through his daughter Nadiya and son Shahad who achieved several state level awards in Mappila and Urdu songs.

Salam Kodiyathur was born at Kodiyathur in 1966 and now working as school teacher in AUP School Vandoor. He is well known as drama writer, director as well as actor. He created more than 25 stage plays and radio dramas, street plays, campus plays in Malayalam. He is also a drama artist in Kozhikode Akashavani centre.
